Many years ago these were beautiful nuns, wearing the holy habit and with young vocations entering. How sad they gave all that up and are now dying out. But God is now calling young women who desire to join new communities that wear the full habit, live in humility, and work with holy zeal. Praise God there is a re-birth in traditional religious life!
I watched the final couple of minutes muted at work and it was absolutely beautiful. As somebody who is 30, I struggle to understand why we chucked this all away?
Toby, as someone who is 33, I'm pretty puzzled too. Mind you, the habit was NOT COMFORTABLE, I'm told by very traditional nuns, and when I ask them, they say that they would find it difficult to go back if it were introduced again.
I'm really saddened by the more modern 'traditional' Orders who wear a kind of hybrid habit - it just doesn't have the same impact as the wimple - but I guess it's better than nothing.
