Franciscans of the Immaculate

Formal fiddleback chasubles and modest Franciscan sandals come together in the Extraordinary Form of the Mass (Traditional Latin Mass) at Our Lady of Guadalupe Friary of the Franciscans of the Immaculate. The video is put to beautiful music from the Franciscan Sisters of the Immaculate, their Sister order. The music was recorded in Italy and is a fine example of the high quality of their music which, combined with the friars in Italy, are playing a major part in spearheading the reform of liturgical music in Italy.

The Franciscan Friars of the Immaculate is a Roman Catholic religious institute of pontifical rite. Their charism is founded on the spirituality of St. Maximilian Kolbe, which is both Franciscan and Marian.

Have these guys any association with the 1962 Missal or Liturgical Forms?

The clue is in the text: "Extraordinary Form of the Mass (Traditional Latin Mass)"! ;-)

Have the Franciscans of the Immaculate returned to the Extraordinary form of the Roman Rite permanently, or are they going to be using it frequently?

I know that before the Motu Proprio they were a Novus Ordo Order.

If the use of the Traditional form is to be a regular celebration for the Friars I would be interested in becoming a Friar with them...

I believe they are heading in that direction. They are already making changes in their daily life, such as the use of latin in the Divine Office and other prayers. Of course, they use the Discipline as well, which you will probably not find anywhere else.

I wrote to the sisters to ask if they have the Latin Mass and how often. They were extremely nice. They only have the Latin Mass once a week on Wednesdays though. I don't know about the brothers.

the Wednesday Mass is actually in the OF (Ordinary Form), but in all Latin, otherwise daily Mass is in the OF, in English. i predict the EF (Extraordinary Form)/TLM (Traditional Latin Mass) will be more frequent given B16 and the path he is taking our Church. some of the hymns of the Office and Mass are in Latin, and are very pretty.

I love the EF and wish it was the norm, but it should not be a deciding factor in the order you choose. I've found the charism and community are much more important.

afaik, the only ones that stick to the TLM are either strictly cloistered/contemplative, or canons regular (priestly, not monastic/brothers).

Ave Maria!

Did anyone know if in Brazil the franciscans of immaculate have masses in the old rite?

I visited the Franciscan Handmaids of the Immaculate recently (newest branch of the Franciscans of the Immaculate). They have a traditional Mass around once a month (sometimes more as available) alongside connection with the local parish for most of the time where there are some (not great) Novus Ordo Masses (without going into specific details as "not great" is the nicest way of describing them). Just thought I would pass this on. They are traditional in the sense that they like the traditional Mass. But brevery is modern with attachment to local modernistic parish. I can't see this changing any time soon but I may be proved wrong.
